Nothing like a heavy G&S surfboard to swim after as there was no leash at that time. The surfboards were extremely heavy and if you were unfortunate enough to fall and get hit on your head, it wasn’t a small bruise. Also, the swim after your surfboard wasn’t fin, either. But even though you had all these issues, it was surfing and that was worth it! It was a lot of fun in those days and not a lot of people were surfing in the early 60’s.
