Sometimes you just know to get ready as the signs of a fantastic sunset might be tonight. You can feel it in the air and you can see signs of the possibility… and when it does come, you are prepared to photograph because you are in the right place and at the right time!

Went out early to see if I could photograph a colorful sunrise over the ocean. I was awarded for the effort of getting up early.

It's always great when all the elements of the photograph come together right at the perfect time with the colors along with a boat in the water. The water adds a lot of possibilities with reflections that can do amazing things to a photograph.

You never know what colors will appear during a sunset and that's the surprise element of photographing both sunrises and sunsets. Just find the perfect spot and return to that spot. If you are very fortunate, you live close by for those perfect sunrises and sunsets.

I loved the soft, pastel colors of this sunset at Boat Meadow Beach the other day. Such pretty, soft colors… such a difference from some of the vibrant sunsets that we’ve seen lately.

It’s the same with sunset photographs. You have the take the time to force yourself to go to a photographic location for a sunset photograph. Just because you’re there, does not mean that there will be a wonderful sunset.

Early in the morning for a bike ride, I happen to be at the right place at the right time for a sunrise over the harbor with reflections of the boats is the harbor. If you don’t get up early in the morning, you miss these photo opportunities.
